The Lights Out Band was formed in June of 2006. On the 23rd of February, 2007 the public received its first taste of the bands sweet music at the official launch. The reviews were tremendous, which validated that the event was a huge success as this was indeed a launch pad for the band's future. They have since performed alongside top local bands such as Small Axe and Grandmasters. The experiences of performing at night spots, restaurants, private parties, Hotels and various promotional events, provides validation of their versatility, as they continue to impress diverse audiences.

The name 'Lights Out Band' though it is admittedly unusual, fits the low keyed persona of the band members. After weeks of mulling over possibilities for an official name, quite coincidentally the search ended during one of their regular practices at their band house that is normally kept cool by an air-conditioning unit. One member explained.."The unit suddenly malfunctioned and we were forced to practice in the uncomfortable heat. It was in the evening, so we decided to minimize the amount of heat by switching off the lights. The remainder of the practice session ran so smoothly that we decided to use the name 'Lights Out' as good luck charm".

"We exude confidence in playing our music, and that of other local and international bands/artists. The members are all avid music lovers and have embraced their youth as an advantage instead of an excuse. The current average age of the band is 16years. We intend to release our debut album "Turn off the lights" in November of 2007, which promises to be a treat for all music lovers."
